Today is the Feast day of St. Joan of Arc, patron saint of France.

On Monday, September 8, we will celebrate Mass in the cathedral at Reims, where Joan witnessed the coronation of King Charles VII.

Here is a link to a little more information about St. Joan.

And here is a 6 1/2 minute video by Fr. James Martin about the young saint.   Saint Joan of Arc, pray for us!

As you get ready to make your final payment to Catholic Travel Centre, you've probably noticed  information about the optional travel insurance they offer.  Please do note that while the cost for it ($219) appears on your invoice, it IS optional, and your own decision whether or not to purchase it, AND whether or not to purchase it through Catholic Travel is entirely up to you.

So- the choice is yours. (Most participants in the previous pilgrimages did buy the optional insurance.)  Here's a video from AAA that might be helpful:

This is the web site for the full details of the plan offered by Catholic Travel Center. (You'd need to download a PDF from the Certificate/Policy tab)
And click here for thoughts from travel expert Clark Howard.
Rick Steves weighs in here with lots of information.

Our final 3 spaces for the trip have been claimed!

I'm looking forward to seeing you (who are local) for our next French lesson on Sunday, June 1, from 1-2pm. We'll be in the Meeting Room, the same location as last time. And I'll have the croissants again (but not the whole set-up; if you wish to bring something else to nibble on, you

So, you've signed up for the Pilgrimage to France? Magnifique!

Do you have a current passport?
No? Well, click here for the link to the US Government Passport website.  Note that the regular processing time is 4-6 weeks, but please do not wait any longer to apply.

Do you have a passport, but it will expire by March 9, 2015?  Yes?
Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months beyond our date of return, so you will need to renew yours. Here's the part of the website for you.

Important: Your name on your passport must exactly match the name on your airline ticket- please check your name as it appears on the invoice from Catholic Travel and make sure all is well!

Do you have a passport that is valid well into 2015? Great!  Please make a few photocopies of the page that contains your photo. Catholic Travel Centre will want one, you'll want to leave one with a trusted someone at home, and pack one with you to France (but not in the same place as your passport!)

Speaking of passport photos.... if you need to get one done, sometimes the local drug stores like Walgreen's or CVS will run coupons in their Sunday circular for passport photos. If you are a AAA member, you can get photos made for a nominal fee or even free (depending on your membership level).
